It’s hard to imagine a world without practice today. They accompany our daily lives, helping us with the most basic tasks. We now know the flip side of such an addiction: for a few years, global privacy awareness constantly growing. The biggest technology companies do not hesitate to collect the personal data of users and refuse to give up this application when they hit the wall.
A particularly reviewed ExpressVPN survey location data collected by applications. The discovery of the latter is at least alarming, if not terrifying, for those who want to protect the privacy of their activities on the web. ExpressVPN has tracked “SDK” trackers responsible for tracking users’ locations in the most popular apps. These are the cumulative total 1.7 billion downloadss.
Location trackers everywhere
iPhones are generally protected, forcing Apple developers to ask if you agree to be tracked. These are a wide variety of services, dating apps, messaging apps and social media top the list. The surprise isn’t really there for this last group, which is relatively transparent about its users’ use of location data.
Messaging apps have a large share of location trackers circulating today. ExpressVPN account 42 apps with at least 187 million downloads collection of such data. We find the champions in this field, Facebook Messenger, especially WeChat or Tango, which has 200 million users.
As for dating apps, 64 of them have been downloaded that track the location of their users. at least 52 million times, according to ExpressVPN. However, the latter states that the data collected is mixed with data on nationality and ethnicity. The VPN, in its review, includes the data of the respective apps. judicial, military and supervisory institutions.
