Play Store: Watch out for these 19 apps; They contain malware that can control your smartphone!

Apparently, after 151 apps attempted to defraud users through paid services via SMS or this fake Squid Game app, Lookout’s computer security researchers have highlighted a new threat. In fact, these experts found traces of particularly dangerous malware in it. 19 apps available for download from Play Storebut also Amazon AppStore or Huawei App Gallery.

This malware, called SummaryEMU, was hidden in functional utility apps like password managers, app launchers, and even apps for managing your smartphone’s energy consumption. According to Lookout, This malware has the ability to gain root access once installed on an Android smartphone.

This malware can root your smartphone and take control of it

In other words, malware making changes to your device without your knowledge. It can reset your device’s password (number combination, pattern, etc.), lock your smartphone, monitor notifications, and even take screenshots or record your conversations using the microphone. As Lookout researchers point out, these rooting malware are very rare but extremely dangerous.

Certainly, Lookout reported its discovery to Google and 19 apps infected with this malware were removed from the Play Store. However, we have no information about Amazon AppStore and Huawei’s App Gallery. One of these apps, “Lite Launcher,” still had 10,000 downloads before it was banned from the store. Even though you deleted these apps, it is possible that one of them is still installed on your smartphone. Here is the full list of apps removed by Google. Note that there are only seven, and the others are copies of the same apps:
