Google now imposes a 4-day deadline to make refund decisions – this is added to the timeframes given to users to transfer funds to their accounts. This delay has been only about fifteen minutes so far. For the user this means they will get their money back sooner, for Google this delay means more time to detect illegitimate requests.
Google is extending the deadlines for refunds for purchases in the Play Store. The firm changed a passage help pages. Thus, the sentence “usually you make a decision within 15 minutes” In the English version it is changed to: “The decision is made within up to 4 working days”. Suggesting an upcoming modification of the French version.
Google extends refund period for purchases made on the Play Store
Android Police suggests this change is due to repeated errors in automatic 15-minute verification. In other words, it gives Google more time to review the legitimacy or otherwise of refund requests. Obviously, for the user, this means waiting another four days to get the funds back into their account.
Note that 3 to 5 business days are added when you pay with a credit or debit card after these four days. Carrier billing can add a delay ranging from 1 to 30 days. Google Play or Google Pay total balance allows for refund within 1 business day. Internet banking offers an expectation of repayment within 1 to 10 days. As for PayPal, it takes 3 to 5 business days after that.

Google changed the wording of the refund policy on the support page again. It has now been stated that “You will usually get [une réponse] Within 15 minutes, but can take up to 4 business days”. Therefore, 15 minutes remains the norm, but in some cases, we may still have to wait a few days.
