Play Store: Google completely changes the interface and introduces P2P sharing

It’s been a while since the Google Play Store recently saw a major overhaul to its interface alongside its transition to dark mode. But soon there will be a change. Google is preparing a big cleanup on the app store. The latest APK in the Play Store was crawled by 9to5Google, which only managed to activate the features that are then available to everyone.

Google Play Store: a brand new interface coming soon

Major changes to the interface can be found in the section currently marked with “. My Apps & Games ». It can be accessed by swiping the menu from the left edge of the screen to the right. This part is coming soon “Manage apps and devices” and it will allow access to various options that have hitherto been scattered in different tabs.

Today there are four tabs: “Updates”, “Installed apps”, “Library” and “Beta”. We immediately perceive the minimalist side of the new interface, as it now has only two tabs: “Overview”, which can be translated as “” overview and another tab titled “ To manage “.

The “Overview” tab displays a wealth of information that lets you quickly know if updates are available and how many apps need to be updated. An indicator also shows how much space the apps are taking up on the device’s storage.

The “Manage” tab is where most of the changes are concentrated. Google basically put together three views. A filter provides access to “installed” and “not installed” applications that have been accessed so far in the “Library” tab. This tab also includes a view for available updates and also lets you view individual games. You can easily select several unnecessary apps and delete them all at once.

P2P application sharing

Another big innovation seen in the Google Play Store is the availability of an option that allows you to easily share an application with people around you. The idea is simple: you recommend an app to a friend or relative, but you want to prevent them from searching the Play Store. All you have to do is start sharing and the latter can download the app directly to their smartphone.

This system is completely different from APK downloading and there shouldn’t be any hassle to directly install apps without going through a relatively annoying authorization process. This feature has another advantage: it allows the user to avoid unnecessary use of bandwidth. Useful for those with very limited data and fast connections.
