Mophie Charge Force Review: Great Galaxy S8 Case and Wireless Battery

The Mophie Charge Force Galaxy S8 case provides just the right amount of protection and lets you add a battery backup whenever you need it, with the wireless charging battery attached to the back of the case. It acts as another wireless charger for your Galaxy S8+ or Galaxy S8 when you don’t need to use it as a backup battery.

Samsung includes wireless charging, so you don’t need a case to enable this great feature, but after multiple team members broke their Galaxy S8 from very minor drops, you definitely want a case on these phones.

The Galaxy S8 Charge Force case is a thin leather-backed case that provides excellent grip and protection. This case also contains magnets and lets you use other Charge Force accessories on the go, including the Charge Force powerstation mini that wirelessly charges your Galaxy S8 or Galaxy S8+.

At $49.95 in the Charge Force case and $49.95 in the Charge Force powerstation mini, it’s not a cheap investment, but a great combination of case and power adds versatility to Galaxy S8 phones. The price drops by $5 when you buy them together, which helps a little.

This case doesn’t need to add wireless charging, but it does add the ability to use a range of charging force accessories with your Galaxy S8, such as the Charge Force powerstation mini, vent mount, desk mount, or Mophie wireless charger. Magnets on the back line these accessories to keep your phone charged while on the go and in the office.

The leather case contains magnets for attaching a wireless charging battery.

Mophie only offers the leather cover in one color black and looks good to wear. We’ve been testing it on multiple trips for over a month and the case shows no wear or marks from our abuse or using battery packs to charge. You still have easy access to the buttons and fingerprint reader. The case works well with the Galaxy S8 screen protector.

The best thing about the Charge Force powerstation mini is that when you need power, it sits directly in the back and wirelessly charges the phone without having to plug in anything. This keeps it in the pocket and allows you to easily use the phone when it is closed. It’s filling up.

The only downside is that it uses a micro USB charger to charge it, so if you want to charge the powerstation mini and connect your Galaxy S8 to a car or a computer for Android Auto you will need a different cable in your bag. The powerstation mini takes about an hour longer to charge the Galaxy S8 than when plugged into a regular USB power outlet and about an hour and 15 minutes longer than when plugged into a fast charger – but you can carry this charger with you.

We like the feature to carry a spare battery that attaches to the phone and can be removed when we no longer need the extra power. This does double duty, doubling as a wireless charger when you don’t need a battery backup. I left one in my office and one on the nightstand so I had wireless charging everywhere and then I could have one when I went out and needed power.
