Last October, the messaging service Messenger made its debut on Instagram. As announced a few years ago, Facebook plans to merge the messaging of its two flagship apps. Now users of both apps can communicate with each other.
After the merger, Facebook promised to bring many new features to instant messaging. Among the features mentioned by the social network, we find temporary messages. This feature, especially popularized by Snapchat, is eagerly awaited by users.
Facebook launches ‘disappear mode’
Facebook announced the rollout of the feature in a press release on its website. Dubbed “Disappear mode,” this mode lets you send a message, photo, video, GIF, or sticker. It will disappear as soon as the recipient realizes it.. “Lost mode is optional, so you choose whether or not you want to go into lost mode with someone.” Explains Facebook.
Therefore, it is not possible to send temporary messages to people who have not activated the mode. To activate this mode, all you need to do is Slide your finger over your smartphone screen While chatting on Messenger or Instagram. “Swipe up again and you’ll be back in normal mode” announces social network.
“You will be notified if someone takes a screenshot of your chat while you are using Ephemeral Mode.” It promises Facebook. On the other hand, the application does not prevent the user from taking screenshots. After all, messages sent in “disappearing” mode can be stored by your interlocutor.
This option is available in the United States and a few other countries. Unfortunately, Facebook doesn’t specify which ones. What do you think of this option borrowed from Snapchat? We’re looking forward to your feedback in the comments below.
