Messenger: app now shows popup SMS with quick response

Launched by Android Lollipop and Nexus 6, Messenger is the new Google OS default app for SMS. So it supports Hangouts on Nexus and can also be used as an alternative solution on overlay devices as it has been available for free on the Play Store for several months. And today it introduced new features that should delight you.

If up until now Messenger has only notified you of the arrival of a new message via a notification, you can now display a pop-up window where you can: reply without the need to open the dedicated app and especially without having to abandon the existing one. Be careful though, because if it’s a long message you’ll have to open the app as it won’t be fully viewable. Also, you cannot scroll through previous messages in the popup.

In addition to the QuickMessage functionality, the latest app update offers another innovation: a widget that displays a discussion thread on your home screen. This time just click the icon in the top right to scroll through messages and change contacts and conversations. Also, the widget is fully resizable.
