LG Electronics today announced its annual and quarterly earnings at an investor meeting are filled with numbers and year-over-year profits, device sales and more. But towards the end, the company said a few important things that potential smartphone buyers should know.
Just as the G4 replaced the LG G3 in April of 2015, we know that a new LG G5 is coming soon to replace the LG G4. However, the phone is said to launch in March, much earlier than previous years. Here’s what to expect in 2016.
The company is rumored to launch the flagship LG G5 with an all-metal design, dual rear cameras, a removable battery and tons of impressive features. Numerous leaked photos also support these reports. During its earnings call and announcement today, LG leaked some crucial information about its plans for 2016.
The new LG G5 will surpass the Samsung Galaxy S7 and iPhone 7 with its new premium design and excellent camera experience. However, this is only part of the plan. Samsung is launching the Note series in the fall, and Apple is launching two smartphones around September. Like iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus.
While we’re not sure if LG plans to launch an LG G5+ or a larger variant, we now know that there will be two high-end flagship smartphones and a range of budget options to pick up the Moto G or Huawei Honor 5x. budget market.

As we saw above, LG expects an exciting and competitive smartphone market in 2016. As a result, we will see the LG G5 in the first half of the year and a second flagship smartphone at another point. It could launch alongside the LG G5 in February or later, closer to the launch of the iPhone 7 or Galaxy Note 6.
In 2015, LG released the G4, one of the most popular smartphones of the year, in June and July. However, another phone called LG V10 was released later in 2015.
