When you scroll through your feed on Instagram, you’ll see sponsored posts, as well as posts from accounts and/or hashtags you follow. When you scroll through all the unviewed photos, a message will appear that says there’s nothing new. Instagram is going to change that.
Now, Instagram will be displayed after the message Posts from people you don’t know. But the network warns that the content will be different than what’s displayed in the Explore tab. The latter may show “adjacent” content from popular posts as well as content you’ve liked. Posts from strangers will be directly linked to things you’ve liked on the platform.
This new feature therefore it goes against Facebook’s current philosophy and seems to have taken inspiration from what TikTok has done using the same process. You’re free to continue scrolling through posts or put your phone away. New posts also mean more ads, and therefore more money for the network. This feature should be implemented today On iOS and Android through an update that is gradually rolling out across the world.
