Since their release in October, the Google Pixel and Pixel XL have been popular Android smartphones. By offering the best in hardware and software for a complete experience. However, cases aren’t easy to come by, so we’ve found a few excellent cases for owners to review.

Incipio is a popular brand when it comes to phone cases or accessories, and with good reason. They offer some of the best options around. So when I saw they had stunning Carnaby Esquires for the Google Pixel XL, I had to buy one.

Pixel XL Case Design

Most cases lately have been made either from a cheap TPU material or a hard polycarbonate shell, but the Incipio brings something else to the table. What really makes the Carnaby special is the fabric on its exterior. As you can see from the photos, this is not an ordinary situation.

Buyers will be happy to learn that the company used four different materials to complete the design. For starters, the Carnaby Esquire has a tough polymer shell for full protection. Thanks to the flexible TPU material used, the buttons are easy to touch. Then there’s a soft microfiber lining on the inside to keep your Pixel XL scratch-free. It is an ultra-soft cotton cover to complete the design. Yes, the outer part is made of cotton. But I chose black gray option It looks like jeans and many will love it.

Interior lined with soft fabric for added protection

As you can see from the photo above, the inside is lined with a soft material to keep the phone safe. The edges hug the sides neatly enough to protect the glass screen as well, something we see from most high-end cases these days.

Feel and Use

The case is easy to slide in, and once you’re in, everything is ready. The buttons are easy to find and press, have a nice tactile feel, and are better than others I’ve used.

Of course all ports, buttons and sensors made by Incipio are precision cut to work without any interference. However, I realized it wasn’t as comfortable as I expected, and maybe a little tweaking to the production line could make it even better. That’s not to say it won’t protect the Pixel because it does, and it’s very good. I managed to drop my phone once while using the case and both came out without a single scratch.

Finally, I was worried about wear and tear as the outer surface is ultra soft cotton. I can’t comment yet as it’s only been on the phone for a few days, but it seems extremely durable so far. It has a nice texture, which means you’ll never accidentally drop your phone. However, it picks up small dust particles more easily than some. That’s not a problem though, because the case looks very good. It’s worth the trade-off.

The design is neither too thick nor too thin. We know many don’t like a case because it adds bulk. Incipio is the perfect middle ground in this regard. The extra space in the speaker below was also welcome, which prevents me from covering the speaker like I do when I’m not using a case.

Overall, this is a very well made and durable case from Incipio. It feels great, looks even better, and keeps the phone safe. Even when lying face down, the screen will never touch or scratch a surface. If there was a complaint, it would be overly large and edged cutout for the fingerprint scanner. This could be sleeker and curved to be more ergonomic. It didn’t hinder the experience, but it was noticeable enough to take note.

This is one of the best cases I’ve tried. While not as cheap as you’ll find on eBay, it’s worth it. You can’t put a price on protection when it maintains sophistication and style like the Carnaby.

In closing, this case feels as good as it looks and will keep the Pixel XL like new for years to come. It is a case that I would recommend without hesitation.
