Huawei Android 8.0 Oreo Updates

As we’ve seen in previous years, Huawei is pretty quick with software updates. However, Oreo updates didn’t start arriving really quickly until May. Not the expected December or January release. Reason for delay? This is because Huawei has a heavily customized and user-friendly EMUI skin on stock Android. This adds a lot of extra features or controls, but at the expense of slower software updates. EMUI 8 is great, but it took a long time to arrive.

Before we move on to what’s new with Android 8.0 Oreo or EMUI 8, here’s a list of devices we believe will see an upgrade to Oreo before the end of summer. As more updates arrive, this list may expand and grow. Note that some of these phones have several versions, so we won’t be listing them all.

Again, this list is in no particular order and some may be incomplete. Additionally, devices like the new Huawei Mate 10 already have Oreo. We will confirm the details here as announcements are made by Huawei. We’re also seeing Oreo arrive for the US. unlocked Huawei Mate 9so be careful with it.

Additionally, the Huawei P10 and P10 Plus, Android Oreo mid March and actually about to receive Android 8.1 in June followed by several other updates in March, April and even May. That said, we heard about the popular Huawei P9 in June (multiple models) may not receive Oreo update that is wrong. Updates roll out as we speak for Huawei P9, Mate 8 and Honor 8.

In closing, we also want to list a few that will not receive an update to Oreo. Again, we’re not 100% sure of the entire list, but many phones will not receive Oreo updates. Honor 5, Huawei Y3, Honor 7, P9 (never mind), and Huawei Y3, Y5, Y6 and Y7 to name a few. Most of these phones aren’t available in the US either, so keep that in mind.

Honor Android 8.0 Oreo Updates

Honor is a sub-brand of Huawei or a sister brand that offers excellent phones at a slightly more affordable price. Honor phones are quite popular in the United States, so we’ve added them to the list. Also, Honor recently approved These nine devices will receive Android 8.0 Oreo and EMUI 8.0 updates.

Also, Honor has announced that some of these updates are just getting started, while others are coming in Q2 and Q3, but that’s the only information they’ve shared so far. Technically Q2 ended in June, so the window is about to close. That means we can expect a ton of updates in the coming months. So far, there are updates to Honor 8 Pro and Honor 9.

The biggest news was that Honor 7X has Android 8.0 Oreo back on April 30. This offers the latest EMUI 8.0 and tons of new features. It’s the same software that’s already included in most of Huawei’s top-rated phones. Basically, it’s a $199 phone with features that flagship phones have.

As July approaches and August begins, we expect a lot of action again.

Huawei Android 8.0 Oreo Update Release Dates and Details

So when will your Huawei or Honor phone get Android 8.0 Oreo update? This is a difficult question to answer. Android makers are slow to make announcements, keeping details close to their vest and rarely sharing exact dates. This is because they change and evolve as new bugs are found or fixed.

We’ve seen announcements from Sony, Motorola, HTC, Samsung, and others, but Huawei remains silent on the details. The only real information we have is from Huawei’s sister brand Honor, as we shared above.

However, the international Huawei P10 and P10 Plus Android 8.0 Oreo beta In January, at least in certain regions. and update shoot Rogers in Canada in April. The Huawei Mate 9 in the US has the latest software and we even see Huawei. Mate 10 Lite Gets Android 8.0 Oreo too.

Huawei smartphone owners will enjoy faster speeds, longer battery life, picture-in-picture mode, predictive text selection, advanced notifications and an autofill frame for your toughest passwords. Be patient in closing because if you don’t have the update yet, it’s almost here. Software upgrades for multiple phones are just around the corner. We expect Android 8.0 Oreo for a number of Huawei and Honor devices in July/August. It will even take a few Huawei tablets. Most likely all flagship phones and popular budget devices will get it first, followed by some lower-end devices from Huawei later this summer. Additionally, while we’re seeing signs of Android 8.1 Oreo, the company will likely move straight to Android P this fall.

Although Huawei and Honor are two different groups, they work hard to bring the best features and the latest software to your device. Again, we expect lots of announcements in the near future. Note that Android P won’t arrive until the end of the year and Oreo is still the main focus for Huawei and Honor.
