How to Sync Clipboard Between Samsung Devices and Windows

Over the last few years, Microsoft’s My Phone app has evolved slowly but steadily over time. It lets you do a lot, from syncing your phone’s notification with your Windows laptop to letting you check your recent phone photos directly on your PC. Another nifty feature found on a few select Samsung phones is the ability to sync your clipboard contents between your Samsung phone and your Windows PC.

Naturally, the My Phone app takes the hassle out of typing and retyping the same information you have on your devices. Once enabled, all you have to do is copy a set of texts to your phone and the same will be available on your PC and vice versa.

This is a great productivity trick. Here is how to sync clipboard contents between Samsung phone and Windows PC.

Lets start.

How to Install My Phone App

Stage 1: Go to Settings on your phone and scroll down until you see Advanced features. Then tap Windows Connection > Add computer.

This step will change the camera to scan QR code.

Step 2: Meanwhile, open the My Phone app on your Windows PC. If you are using the app for the first time, it will ask for your phone type. Naturally, it will be Android for your Samsung phone.

Then sign in using your Outlook account.

Stage 3: After the credentials are authenticated, the My Phone app displays a QR code. Now all you have to do is scan using your phone. Associated with it.

You will need to grant the necessary permissions and both your phone’s and your PC’s My Phone app will sync. After that, you will be able to see your phone’s notifications and photos on your PC.

If the Windows app doesn’t show a QR code, you may need to sign in using the traditional PIN method. But in our case we couldn’t get the PIN and had to revert to the QR method.

Step 4: Now, click on Settings in the lower left corner, select Properties and change the Cross-device copy and paste key. And that’s it.

When you copy something to your phone, the same set of text will be on PC and vice versa. Just like the Apple ecosystem, clipboard syncing works seamlessly and smoothly.

The best part is that there is no weird notification bubble on your phone or computer indicating that the text in question has been copied or pasted. It’s just there. Of course, if you frequently switch between phone and computer, you may need some time to get used to the switch.

limitations

While cross-device copy allows you to access the copied text from your connected devices, the process has some limitations. For example, copied text may lose some of its formatting. In most cases, you are likely to see plain text.

Second, you cannot copy text from your phone’s Secure Folder, and rightfully so. However, you can copy the text to the Secure Folder.

Clipboard contents may be changed from time to time as your phone has no local clipboard history. Fortunately, we were able to see the contents of the clipboard thanks to Google’s native Clipboard feature.

Microsoft Swiftkey keyboard did not display text copied from PC on phone and this could be due to permissions issues. On the other hand, pressing Win key + V bought all recent clipboard contents on PC.

And hey, when configuring this cross-device copy and paste feature, don’t forget to toggle the Use mobile data button.

Bonus Trick: Transfer Files and Photos Like a Pro

One of the newest features of the My Phone app is that it lets you seamlessly transfer files and photos between your phone and computer. No extra long cables and shady sharing apps to spoil the look of your desk. And with the removal of a third-party app, you get peace of mind about data privacy and security, too.

All you have to do is open the My Phone app and click on the phone’s picture. This will mirror your phone’s home screen on top of the My Phone app.

Simply drag and drop files and pictures to the home screen. This much.

With this feature, you can use your phone directly from your PC, whether you want to browse a specific phone app or check the contents of your My Files app. The best part is that some gestures like swiping up and sideways also work.
