A 3-minute song streamed on Spotify can use 2 megabytes (MB) of mobile data. While that may not seem like much, an hour of streaming music can use 40MB. One hour a day for a month might be 1.2 gigabytes (GB) of mobile data. These little things add up to a lot of mobile data when you’re constantly on Spotify.
If you tend to use almost all of your data usage during the month, or if you travel and need to minimize your data usage, this guide is for you.
Download Your Music
The best way to save mobile data is to not use it at all! With Spotify Premium, you can download up to 10,000 songs on each of 5 devices. If you don’t have Spotify Premium or your phone doesn’t have enough storage for songs, skip ahead to the next section of this guide where we’ll manage your streaming settings.
Make sure you are connected to WiFi before following these steps. Otherwise, the playlists will be downloaded using your mobile data.
Stage 1: Open your Spotify app and access the playlists you want to download to your device.
Step 2: On iOS, you can click the download button (circled below) which will automatically start downloading the playlist to your device. You can also go to the playlist settings by clicking the three dots (…) button and download.

Make Your Settings
Spotify gives you the freedom to adjust the quality of the songs you listen to. Higher quality songs require more data usage – just as watching a 1080p video requires more data than a 420p resolution video. So does the music.
Enable Data Saver
Stage 1: Open your Spotify app and Settings button. It is the gear shape in the upper right corner.

step 2: In the settings menu, Data Saver choice. hungry Data Saver and if you also listen to podcasts, Audio-only Podcasts.

This makes the animated album art (it’s a video) static while playing music on your phone and uses less mobile data.
Manually Adjust Audio Quality Settings
A big part of these settings is that you have more control over when you want to save data and when you have more freedom to use data.
Stage 1: Access your Spotify settings and scroll down to the option sound quality. Click on it.

Step 2: The first set of settings you’ll see are WiFi Streaming and Cellular Streaming. You can leave your WiFi settings streaming High or Very High to preserve the quality of your songs.

Here’s how to set your Cellular Streaming settings: Low.
Stage 3: Scroll down further and now we go Optimize Listening adjustment. switch over Auto Adjust Quality. This will ensure that your music can still play when your internet bandwidth is low.

Step 4: Close Download Using Cellular (circled above). With this setting turned off, you won’t accidentally use data while downloading music. The songs will be downloaded when you connect to the Wi-Fi network.
Playback Settings
Playback Settings allow you to adjust how you want your music to sound. You can turn on Crossfades, which allows your songs to blend seamlessly with each other. Many of these settings are fun to tweak so you can make your music feel and sound better to you as a whole.
Fortunately, most of these settings do not affect your data usage.
Stage 1: Open your Settings in Spotify and Playback adjustment.

this Offline Switching is great if you know you can only use the downloaded music.
Step 2: Scroll down to the end of the setting and Canvas toggle on and off. Again, any image displayed is a video. It is media and content that is downloaded repeatedly, and over time this data usage increases.

Save Data, Stream Music
If you have a personal collection of audio files, you can save the data by uploading your music library to Spotify. Minimizing how much you stream and the quality of the streams you upload will help you save on data usage in the long run.
