When it comes to mobile usage, one of the most used tools in Google services has always been Google Maps. The GPS service has saved many return trips around the world and has become one of the most powerful tools available only on smartphones.
Recently, the application has manifested itself mainly in its ability to help on a daily basis. For example, Christmas time integrated the attendance rate of stores in your area. Public transport schedules, like traffic information, are better and better integrated.
Google Maps: a new design to highlight services
The biggest problem that it has become a tool that contains so many features is to make it easier for its users to find them. Also, Google announced that the app will take advantage of a new design that is currently in use.
Now, the most used features of the service will appear just below the app, like the Google Assistant cards we’re already familiar with. Thus, navigation by attractions, public transport or car will now have direct access to the home page.
The functionality remains basically the same, but not enough to upset the habits of those who already use Google Maps like professionals. Points of interest will be highlighted according to the most recommended by the community, with easily identifiable icons for the most used services on a daily basis.
The Car tab lets you see road conditions at a glance on your way to work or home with real-time traffic information from Waze. Finally, the last transit tab will do the same. Swiping up for either option allows for finer tuning or searching outside of these addresses.
