It’s clear that Google is committed to improving the Drive interface. Earlier this month, the company slightly revised the presentation of files in its mobile app, in addition to adding a small camera-specific button. Then last week, the Mountain View giant released a new update that completely overhauled the design of the app’s homepage. A small change in this new version was also overlooked.
In fact, the home page wasn’t the only page that got a minor redesign. When we launch the tool for scanning documents, we find a new look with new functions. As always, Google has applied its Material You philosophy to make everything more pleasing to the eye, more modern and, above all, more readable.
Scanning documents in Google Drive is now easier
When the user starts the tool, he finds an interface specific to document scanning that is different from the regular camera. You then have the choice between two ways to do this: automatic or manual capture. Once the shot is taken, the user is taken to a Preview window where they can touch up the image if necessary.
It is thus possible to crop and rotate the image, apply filters and even retouch colors and contrasts. If you’re not happy with the result, the app gives you the option to recapture the document and finally delete everything. This new version of the document browser is available via version 2.23.457.1 of Google Drive on Android.
The update will also provide access to all changes made to the application interface, home page and folder guide.
