Google took advantage of CES to introduce new functionality associated with its virtual assistant. They will come “soon” with no date, as always with the Mountain View firm. But wait for it to arrive in the US and English-speaking countries before it gets pushed internationally with support for other languages.
Three major innovations were announced. The first concerns the new categories of objects that Assistant can control. According to the firm it would be about twenty. You will find it in the list of coffee makers, vacuum cleaners, air conditioning systems or “smart” bathtubs. So you can ask the Assistant to give you a nice hot bath and make you a cup of coffee, while the autonomous vacuum cleaner eagerly throws itself into the crumbs of the hardwood floor. This class!
New records management
The second innovation scheduling non-recurring tasks in advance. Previously, you couldn’t ask the Assistant to schedule an interaction with a connected object. You can only set up a recurring routine and turn it off once it’s done. From now on, this manual deactivation will no longer be necessary and you will be able to schedule disposable tasks.
The last important innovation Manage recordings made while the Assistant is listening to you. Various commands have been implemented to access, consult and, if necessary, delete records. These new commands also provide access to settings for recording (and storing) these records. Finally, if Assistant is activated by mistake, you can tell him it’s not for him. It will stop listening and delete the recording. This voice command was already announced in December. These three functions will interest both Android smartphone users and Google Home users.
