Fuel Shortage: How Long Could It Last?
The mobilization against pension reform is huge, with 245 rallies and demonstrations across France on Thursday, December 5th. 90% of TGVs and 80% of TERs were canceled as public transport was disrupted in most major cities. As a result, users return to the vehicle, but it is still not possible to refuel depending on the region.
For example, the Fos oil depot was affected by a strike announcement. There were also blockages near Fréjus in Puget-sur-Argens and at Saint-Jean-de-Braye near Orléans or Feysin on the Rhône. The Total-La Mède refinery has also been the target of a blockade – CGT said nothing will enter or leave the warehouse until December 9. Seven refineries are on strike and there are only two refineries in France supplying stations.
As a result, some stations are out of stock, especially in the northwestern part of the country. With the panic movements of the drivers, who flocked to the stations in the hope of refueling, the fuel shortage is increasing.
According to Essence&Co, at the time of writing these lines, 266 stations are completely out of service and 415 stations are partially out of service. Check out these apps and maps to find gas stations can be used and others reporting that the stations are completely dry.
