Galaxy S20 vs iPhone 11 Pro: Which Should You Buy?

With the new Galaxy S20 it’s finally here and Apple’s iPhone 11 Pro readily available, potential buyers have to make a difficult choice between the two. Especially those who want great cameras on their phone. If that’s you, here is our iPhone 11 Pro vs Galaxy S20 comparison to help you decide which one is right for you.

The iPhone 11 Pro is pretty awesome, thanks to its three rear cameras and big screen. That said, Samsung’s brand new Galaxy S20 and Galaxy S20+ models also look pretty great and have major updates in the camera department.

These phones have a lot to love, so how do the two compare.

The Samsung Galaxy S20 is one of the biggest updates in years. All three new Galaxy S20 models will have larger screens and various improvements, with the most notable changes Galaxy S20 Ultra.

In late 2019, Apple launched three new iPhone models, all with great camera features, fast performance, beautiful displays and powerful internal components. They are also really expensive. So, the big three Galaxy S20s are Samsung’s answer to the iPhone 11 Pro.

Galaxy S20 and iPhone 11 Pro: Features

This comparison goes over screen sizes, specs, cameras and price for those on the fence. Frankly, the Android vs iPhone (or iOS) comparison is unique, as some people never leave their preferred platform, but these phones and the experience are more similar than you probably think.

As you can see above, the slightly newer Samsung Galaxy S20 series includes some very notable upgrades or improvements over the iPhone. And that’s before we talk about the crazy Galaxy S20 Ultra specs.

As we now know, Samsung has three different S20 models available. These are the smallest and most affordable 6.2-inch Galaxy S20, the larger 6.7-inch Galaxy S20+, which is quite similar to the iPhone 11 Pro Max, and then a massive 6.9-inch Galaxy S20 Ultra 5G.

These will compete with the iPhone 11, followed by the iPhone 11 Pro and Pro Max. Overall these are all powerful and capable phones, so you’ll have to decide whether you’re willing to pay extra for the S20+, what screen size you want, or if you’re interested in 5G. If you’re coming from an older model like the S8+ or iPhone X, you’ll be happy with both phones.

Looking at the list above, Samsung wins in screen size and resolution, they double the storage starting at 128GB, plus you can add a microSD card instead of paying Apple’s premium. Battery sizes are larger, but that doesn’t necessarily mean better because Apple’s software is much more efficient and sips off the battery. And finally, we can’t really say anything about these crazy camera specs until we test the Galaxy S20 ourselves. They still sound great.

Galaxy S20 and iPhone 11 Pro: Image and Design

Samsung continues to make smartphone screens almost huge, bigger and bigger. However, with small bezels, phones aren’t physically much bigger than you’re used to, they just sound huge.

Here things get interesting. Overall, the 6.2-inch Galaxy S20 isn’t physically much larger than the iPhone 11 Pro with its 5.8-inch display, as it’s bezel-less and lacks a notch on the top. bigger but not more very bad. One reason is that Samsung places the front camera on the screen rather than on top of the screen. Let them stretch the screen all the way to the top and bottom of the hardware.

Then, another big change is Samsung’s new 120Hz display technology. We follow the trend of higher refresh rates like we do I saw it from OnePlus and in 2019 Google has a refresh rate from 60Hz to 120Hz on Galaxy S20, previous models and all iPhones. This allows the screen to refresh 120 times per second, twice as often as the iPhone 11 Pro.

A higher refresh rate makes everything from apps, games and even the operating system look faster, feel faster, run smoother and look better. Remember how good 120Hz and even 240Hz HDTVs looked in your living room a few years ago? The same kind of quality and performance increase is happening on our phones. The S20 has a tapping rate of 240Hz, which is higher than the regular 120.

Another thing you’ll notice right away is the camera hole in the top middle of the phone. It’s a small circle physically cut off from the screen for the front camera instead of Apple’s huge notch. This provides a larger screen that extends to the top of the device without making the phone too big.

As you’ll forget (or get used to) the notch, the same thing happens with the circle cutout on Samsung phones.

Finally, you’ll notice that the Galaxy S20 also lacks a fingerprint scanner on the back. Because Samsung has placed that sensor inside the screen, just like the front camera. Samsung uses ultrasonic fingerprint technology, which can accurately and securely read the edges of your fingerprint from the screen. Apple has FaceID sensors in the notch at the top of its screen.

I’m sure most Samsung and Apple users would like to have a regular fingerprint scanner like in the good old days, but these new biometric security measures seem to work well enough.

Overall the design is not wildly different, just all the screens on the front and all the cameras on the back are covered in fragile glass all over.

Galaxy S20 and iPhone 11 Pro: Cameras

maybe the only one biggest upgrade It’s in the camera section. While both the Galaxy S20 and iPhone 11 Pro have a 12MP main camera, everything else is very different.

Apple has finally had great success with the iPhone 11 Pro, adding three powerful cameras to the back. The main 12MP camera has a large 1.4µm sensor and a fast f/1.8 aperture. This basically means that the sensor is large and captures a ton of detail and is fast enough to take in tons of light for beautiful photos.

As for the Galaxy S20, its main 12MP camera has a larger 1.8µm sensor and a slightly faster f/1.5-2.4 aperture lens. Then Samsung upgraded the telephoto lens to 3-10x optical and digital zoom instead of just 2x. Both the Galaxy S20 and iPhone 11 Pro should have similar wide-angle cameras, and then the Galaxy has an extra ToF sensor for depth sensing and other things to help you get better photos.

Galaxy S20 and iPhone 11 Pro: Battery Life and Charging

It’s hard to talk about this next category, as both Android and iOS use batteries differently. And we all know that iPhones can outlast or outlast a Samsung with a much smaller battery. But what matters is how fast they charge.

Not only is the battery a bit bigger, but the phone charges super fast. Samsung has added the new 25w fast charging technology for these phones. Then again, Apple still provides a dumb 5w charger in the box, but will let you spend extra and buy the faster 18w charger.

Our only concern with the Galaxy S20 series is how big of an impact the 5G and 120Hz display will have when it comes to battery life.

Galaxy S20 and iPhone 11 Pro: Connectivity (5G)

Your phone signal and internet speed are also boosted on the Galaxy S20 for gaming, streaming and other content. Of course we are talking about 5G. Samsung’s new phones have 5G speeds, but it won’t be a huge deal for most people. Although everything is much faster when you have a 5G connection. From downloading apps and games, watching videos, streaming Netflix and more.

Apple’s iPhone 11 Pro does not have 5G and only comes in a 4G version. That said, we’re pretty sure the new iPhone 12 or iPhone 2020 will have built-in 5G.

Galaxy S20 Release Date and Price

And finally, perhaps the most important question for us is “When can I get the Galaxy S20+?” or “How much is the Galaxy S20+?” With all the updates this year, you may want to consider swapping your Galaxy Note 9 or iPhone for a new S20.

The Galaxy S20 release date is March 6, following a mid-February launch event. They are not fully available yet, but as you can see they are expensive. It’s more expensive than most people expect, and higher than what Apple charges for its phones. Note that these all come with 128GB, while Apple charges a hefty fee to get a phone with more than 64GB.

When you buy Apple’s models in higher storage configurations, these prices get very high and eventually become Samsung-like.

In closing, these are two of the best phones on the market but also some of the most expensive. With Samsung, you’re paying for the latest and greatest, which can make the high price tag more manageable for most people.

You’ll be happy with both phones because they’re both big, premium, stylish phones with great cameras, great battery life, and fast performance. On the other hand, if you upgrade, you will lose the 3.5mm headphone jack. If this is important to you, be prepared to buy wireless headphones.

The Samsung Galaxy S20 looks like a great phone that buyers will like. We think it’s worth the wait, and we think it’s worth buying over the Galaxy S10 even if that phone sees it. heavy discounts. We may see a few iPhone 11 Pro deals from carriers as well, so keep that in mind if you’re on the fence or have decided to stay with Apple. Expect lots of sales and deals after the March release date.
