Chrome 108 is available on PC and Android, discover all the new features

We’ve been talking to you about this feature for a while. The tab hibernation feature, which was available for a few days through Chrome 107, also comes in the latest browser update. The principle is simple: open tabs that have not been visited for a certain period of time are “paused”, understanding that they no longer consume energy. That’s enough to save RAM (which Chrome is known to happily consume) and also battery for portable devices. This feature is still under development and may not be fully functional at this time. A new keyboard on Android

But it’s not always easy for developers to take these two ways of doing things into account when creating their sites. Therefore, with Chrome 108, Google will give users the chance to choose between two methods to display the keyboard. Therefore, expect behavior that may differ from your usual behavior.

A new design for the search bar

Google continues to expand its Material You philosophy to all of its products, and now it’s Chrome’s search bar’s turn to join the campaign. Chrome 108 includes a new font format called COLRv1. The latter has two distinct advantages. First, it gives developers more freedom in terms of functionality while offering an alternative solution in cases where it is not possible to actually implement their ideas. On the user side, this format makes it possible to improve the appearance of characters, especially emojis, by displaying more saturated colors.

How to download Chrome 108?

On PC:

• Open Google Chrome
• Open the drop-down menu located in the upper right corner of the browser
• Go Help > About Google Chrome
• The update will start automatically
• Once installed, close and reopen Google Chrome

on Android and iOS

• Go to Play Store or Apple Store
• Select the app management tab in your profile
• Select Chrome and run the update
