Android: Google bans apps from seeing ads on lock screen

Big change in Android, Google decided that apps should not be imposed anymore. ads on lock screens users’ smartphones. App developers have been alerted and will need to fix the situation quickly if they don’t want to be penalized as this new feature is currently available. Google requires quick updates to remove such ads and threatens publishers to remove apps from the Play Store that don’t comply with this new regulation point.

No more lock screen ads on Android smartphones

However, an exception is given to apps that offer lock screens. However, these should not include any functionality other than lock screen customization. Google warns that “Apps cannot serve ads or features that monetize a device’s lock screen, except where the app’s specific purpose is a lock screen.”

Many apps have chosen this very intrusive ad model to get paid. Adware-infested ES File Explorer, Peel, and Hotspot Shield VPN are examples of popular apps that used to display ads on lock screens and now need updating. It’s a change that should improve users’ experience on their smartphones. We remember that Google has already taken measures against applications that send ads in the form of push notifications. At that time, their ban had changed the lives of quite a few people.
