Google’s Android 14 beta program comes to an end as July is the last month on the development calendar Before a possible stable release in August. After a third beta released in June, followed by version 3.1 that fixed a bug in the fingerprint reader, the fourth beta may well be the last.
The build number of the update is UPB4.230623.005 and there are a few new things in store. Between them, many bug fixes, but also some more subtle changes.
What changes in Android 14 Beta 4?
In Android 14 Beta 4, when your smartphone is set to “silent”, status bar will now show a small strikethrough speaker iconwill replace the bell icon in previous versions of Android. Unfortunately, Google has not added a new icon to tell us, for example, that the smartphone is “vibrating”.
Also, Google now offers users more image options for different profiles saved on smartphones. 24 new profile pictures availableand you will have the opportunity to choose from plants, animals and even planets.
Finally, as discovered by Mishaal Rahman, the update also includes a new Easter Egg, which you can see by going to Settings > about phone > Android version. Keep tapping the Android version until the Android 14 logo appears before your eyes floating in space. Tap the logo for a surprise.
The update is also compatible with the Pixel Fold and Pixel Tablet, which were recently released by the American giant. A new option also appears: Automatic confirmation of unlocking. he allows Automatically unlocks the device if you enter a correct PIN of 6 digits or moreand therefore less secure than pressing another key to confirm.
We’ll see now if Google sticks to its schedule and distributes the stable version of Android 14 on its Pixels in August before it arrives on other smartphones by the end of the year.
