WhatsApp will soon welcome a new feature: Ability to automatically hide calls from unknown contacts. It’s a different setting than the blocking already available in the app.
This idea is pretty stupid. If you enable this feature, all calls from contacts not registered in your phonebook will be hidden. It’s going to be possible to consult them in your call log, but these will simply be ignored and the interlocutor will be faced with a missed call.
WhatsApps protects users from unwanted calls
The purpose of this functionality is clearly to protect users. Against spam or harassment. For example, WhatsApp allows us to see the number of people who are not in our contacts through groups and therefore leave ours visible to strangers. Hiding calls seems like a good idea as it comes with blocking, another feature that helps avoid inconveniences. If you wish, you will also be able to ignore unknown calls.
We currently don’t know exactly when this feature will be available. WABetaInfo spotted this in the source code, indicating it is currently under development and it’s not even ready to be rolled out to beta testers yet. If it’s confirmed by Meta, we can expect to see it on our phones in at least a few months.
What’s up It is highly sensitive to harassment issues faced by users. A new feature has recently emerged that allows you to block a person with just one click. A good thing, considering the app is most used in France. A recent study states that more than 30 million French people use it regularly. in france, WhatsApp is installed on seven out of ten smartphones.
