That’s the big question Android users are asking this month. When does Google plan to deliver the next major update, Android 14? In fact, traditionally this occurs around the beginning of the school year, which is between late August and early September. However, this year the Mountain View company seems to be a little behind in development as there is no update yet.
At the beginning of September, rumors began to circulate that Google was postponing the release date of its operating system. A new date was later unofficially announced: October 4. However, some were still hoping that Android 14 would come to Pixels with the September update. Ultimately, that won’t be the case.
Android 14’s October distribution becomes clear
Here’s another long overdue update. Google usually releases its monthly updates to smartphones on the first Monday of the month. So we had to wait a few weeks for it to become available, moreover a week after the last Pixel Watch security patch. Of course, Android 14 is not included in the program for this update.
Instead there are the usual security fixes and other performance improvements. Google also states that a critical vulnerability has been closed, so we recommend that you do not delay in installing the patch. The latter is available for all smartphones in the series, starting with the Pixel 4a 5G, as well as the Pixel Tablet and Pixel Fold.
As for Android 14, everything now points to October 4 as the correct date. It is certain that Google will use the Pixel 8 launch to announce the news. A little patience though.
