Voombox Party Rugged Bluetooth Speaker Review 1

Voombox Party Rugged Bluetooth Speaker Review

Bluetooth speakers are extremely popular and sold by almost everyone these days, so finding a good overall package that doesn’t cost too much but still delivers great sound is harder than it should be. The Voombox Party 2.1 subwoofer speaker is one of the few speakers that addresses all the key areas users look for when purchasing a speaker, and below we’ll explain why we recommend it. DiVoom Voombox Party Bluetooth speaker.

Voombox Party is affordable, under $100, but still sounds great. It has incredibly deep bass and is a bit heavy, but that’s because it can truly live up to its name as a “portable” speaker that users can actually take anywhere. These are some of the things I look for in a speaker and this one does.

Bluetooth speakers are a dime a dozen, and there are tons of great options from Jambox, Logitech’s Ultimate Ears line, Beats Pill (if you can call it a good choice), and tons of other popular brands like Bose, Sony, Samsung, and more. . The best part about Voombox is that it provides similar sound to these big brands but at a lower price point. Read on for more details.

I’ve been enjoying Voombox Party for about a month now and had the pleasure of using it as a portable speaker to really test the portable, party and rugged aspects of the name. It got wet in the pool, it rained for over an hour at my family cottage in Utah, and on the 4th of July my truck was thrown in the back, but it still plays great music.

It did everything mentioned above, despite being extremely simple to use. Voombox has three ways to connect devices. There’s Bluetooth, an IPX44 rated water-resistant rubber cover and a 3.5mm auxiliary cable hiding behind the gasket, followed by an easy pairing NFC button on the side. DiVoom promises 8 hours of music playback from the integrated 4,200mAh battery, and I found that to be true, although not on the low side. Mine lasted at the cottage all weekend, I think we streamed at least 10 hours of music here. Oh, and it also acts as a speakerphone for making phone calls; this is a great feature that most people don’t think about when buying a Bluetooth speaker. This IPX44 rating means it’s water resistant, but it’s not completely waterproof, so don’t attempt to submerge this speaker in water.

I didn’t have to pair over Bluetooth and enter any four-digit codes, instead I pressed the NFC button on the side and tapped my Galaxy S6 next to it and it instantly paired, took over and started playing some music. Tool, one of my favorite bands, in a matter of seconds. It’s as easy as anyone can do. However, you can use it as a wired speaker or connect via the regular Bluetooth method.

Once connected, users can enjoy quite extraordinary audio output from this small device. Coming in at 9 inches long, 4 inches high and just 2.1 inches wide, it’s not the most portable speaker I’ve ever owned, and actually being 2.4lbs it’s pretty heavy. This speaker has only two ports. Behind the rubber waterproof cover is a micro USB port for charging and a 3.5mm headphone auxiliary port.

Many options are smaller and lighter, but they don’t have as much bass as the Voombox. In fact, bass response is almost always an issue with portable speakers because when users try to enjoy their music they don’t have enough volume and they have that “canister” sound.

However, I would go so far as to say that most of the Voombox batch may have the opposite issue. The advanced 2.1 subwoofer speaker system actually delivers a lot of bass and suppresses the occasional mids and highs. On one side is a passive radiator for airflow to assist the bass from the 3-inch subwoofer and 2-inch full-range speaker. This helps the bass be extremely full, enough to fill the entire room, but it can be overwhelming at times. I was able to tweak a bit using a 3rd party music player with equalizer, not to mention all users have different sound preferences. If you want bass, this is worth considering.

In terms of build quality, this is as good as it gets. The Voombox is made of shock-absorbing rubber material all over, including the power, Bluetooth, volume, and phone buttons on the top, and then wrapped in a lightweight, sturdy metal frame. I accidentally dropped it 1.8 meters off the roof of my truck and it was fine. You will see a small scratch from the fall in my photo below, which is more than acceptable and saved me from having to buy another speaker.

All said and done Voombox batch has a premium look and feel, is extremely durable and water resistant, has loud, clear and crisp sound, great battery life that lets it deliver tons of bass, and is only $99 from most retailers.

It may not be the best Bluetooth speaker on the market, but it has a lot to offer for the price and will sound far better than your typical smartphone, tablet, laptop, or many other speakers in the $100-200 range. These days I keep mine in my truck, in the back of my seat, ready to use when hiking, camping or other outdoor activities.
