There are nine Horizon Forbidden West Vista Points to find and solve. They all have their locations and solutions here, so you can find the poles that started them and the location of the landscape you need to find.
These Vista Points scattered across the map will give you a glimpse into the past for each location and tell you something about the area in previous times. Each can be started by searching for a phone point that looks like this and scanning it:
Scan this with your focus and you’ll get a bright purple frame you should find. Explore nearby to find the exact spot and this will align with the real world view, completing the Vista Point objective.
Below you’ll find where to find and complete all Horizon Forbidden West Vista Points.
Daunt Vista Point is the first you’ll find in the game and luckily the easiest to solve. Just to get you into the flow of events.
The solution is to stand on the small ruined bridge and look at the Ruins across the river.
Plainsong Vista Point is a surprisingly long way from your starting point, and this can be confusing if you think you’ve gone too far. What you need to do is to head for the cliffs in the south.
Here you will find an old, ruined viewing platform with the wind turbine very close to the ruins. Pay attention and a little to the right and the Vista Point will be unlocked.
The Scalding Spear Vista Point is fortunately painfully clear on what to look for to unlock the Vista Point.
Just above the telegraph pole is an old viewing platform that you have to climb onto using properly fallen log to act as a bridge. There are a few Sunwings guarding it though, so be careful.
You can see where you need to find it in the second image in the gallery above.
Stillsands Vista Point, overlooking the desert, is pretty straight forward. Just jump a little and get back to where you started.
As you can see above, the telephone pole actually forms part of Vista Point itself, and the silhouette of what’s left of Las Vegas makes up the rest.
The Dunehollow Vista Points are definitely the most infuriating of all you’ll have to find in Horizon Forbidden West. It’s underground, accessible by elevators in the Hidden Ember settlement, in the heart of Las Vegas.
The original starting point is south of Dunehollow, while the solution is in the half-rotten bridge to the north.
Go to the easternmost point of that bridge without the parapets and a protruding almost triangular section. Here’s a line (pictured above) where you need to stop in the middle for Vista Point to click.
However, this unbelievably it’s hectic, so you may need to wiggle it a bit to pop it. It doesn’t quite line up with the debris that was there when it exploded, which makes it even more confusing.
Memorial Grove Vista Point is thematically on point, with the clue pointing to an old airport.
Just head a little further east into the mountains and you’ll find an old viewpoint location, now quite familiar, where you can align the radar dish to unlock the Vista Point.
Long Coast Vista Point is another hectic spot as you have to go right to the edge of the rock to blast it off. However, head to the aforementioned map marker – just down the beach from the pickup post – then you can figure that out pretty quickly.
From there, look at the strange square building that doesn’t look like much in the original clue and it will explode.
For Shrouded Heights Vista Point, you’ll ideally need the ability to fly, which you’ll acquire as part of the main story quests during the late game quest Wings of the Ten.
This is because to actually unlock Vista Point, you’ll have to climb to the very top of the skeleton metal tower, which we marked with Aloy’s location on the map above. It’s pretty close to where you get it, but not near the suggested solution area that the game gives you.
It’s possible to climb to the top without the ability to fly, but it’s not easy, and with Aloy’s ineptness at climbing and jumping from handle to handle, it can be deadly frustrating.
The actual Vista Point opens just near the top, on a small yellow buttress protruding from one of the corner rails (pictured above). Look at the crumbling skyscraper ruins and you’ll get the point.
Finally, we have the Isle of Spiers Vista Point, which is another odd spot – and it’s underwater too. Before you start this, you will need the diving mask obtained from the Poseidon quest in the main campaign.
After getting the Vista Point hint, head to the marked point on the map above.
Once you’re in this general environment, look across the seabed for a yellow handle you’ll no doubt recognize as one of the underwater “boost” spots seen elsewhere in the game.
But face it next to you don’t do that press the triangle to increase it and Aloy will hold it. As soon as it does so, Vista Point will automatically unlock.
