Google Docs, Sheets and Slides: Editing Word, Excel and PowerPoint documents is now possible

Google Docs, Google Sheets, and Google Slides users can rejoice. Editing Microsoft Office documents (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) is now possible for G Suite users. You no longer need to convert documents to edit directly in Google Drive.

Google Docs and other apps in Google’s office suite are increasingly used as alternatives. Word, Excel and PowerPoint, especially for teamwork, because these are cloud-focused tools. Still Microsoft Office remains the most used office suite in the world and we often need to replace Microsoft documents from Google Drive. If it is possible to read them easily, then printing has so far only been possible by bypassing.

Google Docs, Google Sheets, and Google Slides: Editing Office documents is now possible

The announcement was made in a post by Google on its blog. G Suite. Therefore, G Suite users waiting for publicly available distribution, as often happens, have temporary exclusivity in functionality. But they’re not the only ones, as Dropbox subscribers are also affected. As a reminder, it’s been possible for several months to create and edit Google documents with the online storage solution.

So both Dropbox and G Suite subscribers can now modify files with extensions .docx, .xlsx, .pptx, .doc, .xls, .dot, .xlsx, .ppt and many others. Until now, they had to be converted to make them compatible with Google Docs, Google Sheets or Google Slides apps.
