Steam is currently the world’s most popular digital distribution service for purchasing games, and it’s unmistakable from holding the majority of the market share. However, despite having a high speed internet connection, people face issues such as reduced download speeds resulting in a significant increase in ETA for game downloads. This completely eliminates the point of using a digital delivery service. If you are facing this issue, we have a solution you can try to increase these speeds. Without further ado, let’s take a look How to increase download speeds on Steam:
Changing Server Region for Faster Steam Downloads
Changing the server region should improve download speeds on Steam. This worked for me. First of all, you need to log in with your Steam username and password to enter the main page. Once you’re done, simply follow the steps below to seamlessly change the Steam download region:
- click “Steam” Click on the menu located exactly in the upper left corner of the Steam window and again “Settings”.
- Once you are in the settings page, you need to navigate to: “Downloads” episode. In the right pane, you will see the option to change the region to download your games. click “Download Zone” and choose the closest server based on your location, or the server that gives you the best download speeds. Although Steam automatically selects the closest server location, your speeds can be affected by servers malfunctioning or overloading, which is exactly why we recommend changing it. It’s worth noting that the speeds you get may vary from person to person, as it primarily depends on your location.
- When you complete this step, right next to Download Region, limit bandwidth for your game downloads. Click on it and make sure it is. set “No limit”. While it’s set to No Limit by default, you may have accidentally played with the settings and changed them before, causing the slow speeds you’re experiencing. After you finish everything, click on it. “OK”.
Well, that’s the whole process and you may notice a significant improvement in your game download speeds. However, if you don’t notice any speed gains, you should probably call your Internet Service Provider (ISP) right away, as we don’t think there are other potential issues with Steam that could be reducing your downloads.
