Initially available only on smartphones, WhatsApp has been able to run on PCs for several years thanks to the official Desktop app or a web browser. This functionality is already very useful, but accessible at the expense of one limitation: so that your smartphone is always on and connected to the Internet. According to the WABetaInfo Twitter account, which has already announced many WhatsApp features in the past, this restriction will soon be a thing of the past.
WhatsApp: PC version will soon work without a smartphone
How this will work remains to be seen. A smartphone is essential for the simple reason that WhatsApp messages are stored locally and not on the messaging app’s servers. This prevents conversations from being accessed from any other device except mirroring mode.
for Completely standalone PC WhasApp, the app can change the way it works by allowing real-time backup of messages in the Cloud like its competitors Skype and Telegram. Still, it will be a big change that is unlikely to happen in the short term. The other option, which is easiest to implement, is to allow the PC to store messages temporarily, even if it means syncing them with the smartphone after connecting to the internet.
These are the two possible solutions for our understanding. But either way, such a feature would be welcome, especially for businesses that are increasingly using WhatsApp Business to manage their customer relationships.
