Google Trips shows you the weather, price and number of tourists before you go

This is a new feature that will appeal to adventurers. Google Voyages, the portal dedicated to available flights, hotels, and activities during your travels, was newly updated on Wednesday, January 8th. It is now possible to see what the ideal time to leave is. Indeed, a new tab in the Hotel pane tells you the best time to pack your bags based on three criteria: weather, the average number of tourists during this period and the average price of airline tickets.

Let’s say you want information about going to Portugal. Type the country name and click Hotel. A table will appear with three new options:

• Where to stay : This tab allows you to quickly see which hotels you can stay in, sorted by traveler ratings. A brief summary of the establishment and its location’s main points of interest (close to museum, city centre, etc.) are displayed.
• To go : Here you will find the calendar of the year that tells you the best month to visit based on the weather, the number of tourists during this period and the average room rates per night. Also, Google will tell you when the peak season is and highlights not to miss. In this case, Google for Portugal indicates that the high season covers spring and summer from April to August, and you shouldn’t miss the various festivals that focus on local patron saints that take place in June.
• Price : Here you can compare all the available hotels on the date of departure. Two search filters are available. It is possible to categorize businesses by the number of stars and view all prices or only ongoing special offers and promotions.

To give you an example, in January there are not many tourists in Portugal and the first month of the year is usually marked with 9 to 11 rainy days. Regarding the prices, the hotel rates are quite reasonable with 21 and 55 € per night depending on the establishment.
