Google sometimes makes minor aesthetic changes and more often adds new features. But the Photos app has rarely benefited from a facelift as comprehensive as that offered by the Mountain View firm today.
Google Photos gets a new logo and focuses on your photos and memories
The first change to stand out: new logo. Google decided to keep it simple by choosing a “flat and minimalist design.” The logo’s characteristic propeller takes on a much more rounded shape, reminiscent of a cloverleaf. It features the same blue, red, yellow, and green colors that make up Google Photos’ identity.
As for the interface, it now revolves around three tabs instead of four. On the far left, we still find the shutter pictures It offers a gallery of your images with a row at the top dedicated to Memories, a new feature of Google Photos introduced last year. This will scroll daily through your photos taken in previous years. A great way to bring back good memories.
Memories gain visibility by taking up more space. same for you photos growing thumbnails. The tab also includes your autoplay videos from the gallery; this change was introduced last year as well. The new Google Photos interface has a new tab on the far right To collect now you can save your albums, favorites, trash, etc.
Finally, a tab is reserved in the center. Research and replaces the Album tab in the previous version. This interface is a space that provides “quick access to the people, places, and things that matter most to you,” rather than just a search bar. New interactive map
Google Photos already categorizes your photos based on where they were taken. As we announced to you a few days ago, the app now goes even further by presenting it on an interactive map. You can zoom in and out on the map, swipe to explore photos from your travels, see where you took the most photos in your city, and more.
