This is especially true for Tapbacks, these emojis and images that Apple uses to react to received messages. There is no equivalent yet in Google Messages. Also, when an Android user receives one of their reactions, the app automatically displays a text message informing them that their SMS has received a reaction. Not very practical or very visiblelike this. That’s why since last November, Google has been working to better translate Apple’s Tapbacks.
iMessage reactions are coming to Google Photos
In the latest beta version of Google Messages, users can see: Android emojis instead of famous Tapbacks. However, the translation is not perfectly fluent as expected. Apple’s heart becomes the heart-eyed emoji, the burst of laughter turns into a laughing face. Exclamation and question marks turn into gaping emoji and pensive emoji, respectively.
Only likes and dislikes have their Android equivalents. These toggles are automatic, but it is possible to disable them by going to. Menu > Settings > Advanced Settings and uncheck the option Show iPhone reactions with emojis. For now, Pixel 6 seems to be the smartphone affected by the update.
