Googles Messages, Google’s messaging service now passing through RCS, will soon be bundled a big update. What Mountain View company presents in a video will change a lot for users.
Google Messages is the “basic” Android app for exchanging messages (formerly SMS). But such services have evolved and Google is adapting to this update. It brings many new features, including long-requested ones: finally the ability to see iMessages user reaction emojis.
Google Messages makes it easy to communicate with iMessages
After months of beta testing, Google can now display these reactions from iMessages in its app, where only text appeared before. If an iPhone user likes your recent text, you’ll see it. It doesn’t sound like much, but given that Apple has yet to use the RCS standard, it was a challenge for Google. In addition, the Mountain View firm sent a thinly veiled message to the person concerned, urging him to take action.
This update adds many things like: Possibility to classify messages by type: is this a family chat? About work? Another thing ? You can sort. The app also lets you know if someone has a birthday today so you can wish them well. Emoji combinations will be included, as will other services such as messengers. Enough to find the perfect emoji adapted to the situation.
This Update is initially only distributed in India, then comes the United States. The rest of the world will follow. In Europe, we can hope to have it the next few days, at worst the next few weeks.
A major update in the history of the service that has of course passed a course, freeing itself from its legacy as an “SMS app”.
