EKSA E910 Wireless Gaming Headset: Affordable Surround Sound, Low Latency and More

There are lots of great gaming headsets on the market and at various price points. But choosing a solid gaming headset is no easy task. In fact, you’re probably reading a lot about the most affordable gaming headset on the market. Well, one of the companies that make some pretty impressive gaming headsets is EKSA and its new E910 wireless gaming headset ($89.99), looks like a great option for gamers; and even for regular headphone users. Here is our review of the EKSA E910 wireless gaming headset.

First, let’s take a look at the contents of the box.

That’s a lot and I was very surprised that EKSA also included a headphone stand in the box. This makes a nice addition to the table and helps keep things a little tidier.

Features

Design and Build

EKSA has done a good job designing these headphones. They’re matte blacks all over and look really good. The cushioning on the earcups and the headband are soft and thick, making the headset extremely comfortable even for long hours of use. And let’s be honest, most gamers spend long hours playing their favorite games.

I really like the overall look of these headphones. The all-black body, the red lighting that pops up when you turn it on, and the splash of red inside the earcups come together really well, giving the headset a distinct gaming feel without overdoing the color.

The E910s also feel really solid and well built. It’s mostly a plastic build, but it doesn’t feel flimsy and is pretty reassuring to use. That’s great, especially if you tend to drop your headphones a lot; and for those times when you run into hackers in a CoD lobby and want to throw your headphones at them (though I wouldn’t recommend it).

Speaking of CoD lobbies, these earphones have a unidirectional microphone with noise canceling built in. You can pull it out of the left earcup and push it back in when needed. The microphone arm is not made of plastic; instead, it is an easily bent arm. This means it’s really easy to set up the microphone in the perfect place without worrying about breaking it.

My only complaint about the design and build is the controls on the left earcup. For one, I had a hard time finding the buttons while wearing the headphones. This is especially annoying with the volume wheel, which is a solid app for controlling volume but hard to find by feeling around.

While the buttons are tactile enough, they don’t look very elegantly put together. There are alignment issues with the power button on the unit I have, and while that doesn’t detract from my experience with the headphones, they do make the headphones look a little cheaply made, even if they’re really well made.

sound quality

I have different opinions about the sound quality of these headphones. As you know, the EKSA E910 is not a monitor headset, so if you expect a flat output, you are wrong. However, I think EKSA could do a slightly better job of adjusting the sound here; E910s are very bass based. Almost dominant.

However, my mixed opinions are due not to the strong bass output – which is something I actually love in music – but rather the fuzzy midrange on these earphones. Ever since EKSA positioned these headphones for gaming and While listening to music, I listened to a lot of music about them. Everything from bass-heavy tracks to classic rock and metal.

Throughout this, the headphones accentuate the bass a lot, and that’s great for EDM music, but not so much in genres where you want the mids and highs to really come out better, like classic rock and metal. Worse still, in some music genres, often the kind with complex instrument arrangement, headphones can make the highs very high-pitched and uncomfortable, and you may hear a cracking sound at high volumes.

Gaming Experience

Sound quality seems adequate for the game. I’m not a professional gamer and my CS:GO stats won’t embarrass anyone but myself, but I enjoyed playing de_dust2 with these headphones.

For an even better gaming experience, the E910s also supports software-enabled 7.1 surround sound. Honestly, this is a feature I would love to use when I play BGMI on my iPhone, but unfortunately, the software that enables this feature is apparently only available on Windows. So I haven’t been able to test it as extensively as I’d like. That said, it works, and if you’re really good at using audio cues to gather information about your enemies’ locations and pre-fire corners in your favorite games, the E910’s surround sound may make it a whole lot easier for you. .

What’s more, you can even customize the surround sound from the EKSA app to adjust it to your preference. However, I found that the default settings worked just fine for me. It’s nice to have the option to customize the surround sound though.

Regarding the delay, EKSA’s claim of an intangible delay really sounds true. Technically, the headphones manage to keep the latency under 15ms, according to the company’s claims. While I can’t test this myself, I can say that lag isn’t an issue in the games I play. The earphones perform admirably from start to finish.

battery life

Battery life is also often a primary concern when it comes to wireless devices. Sure, you want great sound quality from your headphones, but if battery life sucks, it’s a pretty useless device, right?

Well, the EKSA E910 wireless gaming headset is solid on that front. The company claims 10 hours of battery life on one charge, and while my usage and charging habits make it nearly impossible to drain these earbuds, your mileage may vary. 10 hours seems like a good number to me, but it’s not the best.

HyperX Cloud Stinger Core ($69) offers 17 hours on one charge and the Corsair Void RGB Elite ($83.99) offers 16 hours of use.

For charging, the earphones have a Type-C port on the left earcup, and you can use the included charging cable to charge the earphones in about 4 hours.

As I mentioned earlier, the headphones use a 5.8GHz network to connect to your PC, Mac, or whatever device you connect to, which is a key feature that most headphones in this price range don’t offer.

The HyperX Cloud Stinger I mentioned above uses 2.4GHz networks, and so does the Corsair Void RGB Elite. That’s fine, but 2.4 GHz is more likely to have latency issues and other connectivity issues; That’s not the case with the 5.8GHz network these headphones use.

Connecting them is also really simple. Plug the receiver into your PC’s USB port and turn on the headset. They connect at lightning speed and you don’t need anything manually, which is great. It’s a real plug-and-play experience and I greatly appreciate it.

The receiver dongle also comes with an AUX port, which is one of the most ingenious ways I’ve seen a company use to make their headphones compatible with devices that would otherwise not work.

Basically, you can plug the dongle into any powered USB port and use the AUX cable to plug the dongle and AUX out port of any device, that’s it. Your headset will now stream audio from that device. That’s pretty impressive, and it’s surprising that many other companies don’t offer the same feature.

Finding a wireless gaming headset that ticks almost every box on a gamer’s checklist isn’t easy. However, EKSA E910 seems very close in this regard. They offer a modest, but clearly gaming-oriented design, 5.8 GHz connectivity for low latency, and 7.1 digital surround sound. Of course the battery life isn’t the best in class, but it’s still good and more than enough for many users.
