american actor Will Smith Won King Richard the best actor award at the 2022 SAG Awards. The actor beat out other contenders like Andrew Garfield, Javier Bardem, Denzel Washington and Benedict Cumberbatch to claim the big win. He played Richard Williams, the father and first coach of Serena and Venus Williams, in the film.
In his acceptance speech, Will Smith said that being named while sitting next to the legendary Venus Williams could be one of the biggest moments of his career.
“This may have been one of the greatest moments of my career because my name was called for King Richard, who sits next to Venus Williams.” said Smith.
He later praised Richard Williams and called him a dreamer like no one else. “Richard Williams is a dreamer you’ve never met before. He has a power of belief that reaches the edge of insanity and sometimes goes beyond what is absolutely necessary to make something possible from impossible to possible.” said.
