The official Asus Zenfone 5z was unveiled in Zenfone 5 and 5 Lite variants, which you can watch a rerun of during the manufacturer’s conference at MWC 2018. Definitely a high-end smartphone, it stands out as a serious competitor to the Samsung Galaxy S9. Equipped with a Snapdragon 845 SoC, powered by artificial intelligence and loaded with really useful features, it has all the assets to topple the Korean manufacturer’s flagship!
Asus Zenfone 5z vs Samsung Galaxy S9: What are the differences on the technical sheet?
The Zenfone 5z will be equipped with Qualcomm’s ultra-high-end chip, the Snapdragon 845 SoC. The smartphone will then go on sale in the French market in two different variants. First, the 6GB RAM and 128GB internal storage version. The second is the 8GB RAM and 256GB internal memory version.
We didn’t expect this, but it’s way better than what the Galaxy S9 has to offer. Undoubtedly, the Galaxy S8 will be available from us with an Exynos 9810 SoC that surpasses the LG V30 and Mate 10 Pro benchmarks. But the Zenfone 5z’s additional 2GB or even 4GB will largely make up for this slightly less efficient processor.
The most innovative smartphone
On the innovation side, on the Galaxy S9 side, Samsung did not bring many new features. The manufacturer mainly contented himself with improving the existing one. However, the Galaxy S9’s biggest highlight is its dual-aperture rear photo sensor, which can be found on other cheaper flagships. The Zenfone 5z doesn’t offer anything in that direction but has revised its copy while using the photo sensors. So much so that the manufacturer has decided to greatly improve what is on the front of the device. According to a study, the selfie camera is used as much as the rear sensor.
The Asus smartphone also benefits from an extremely powerful artificial intelligence. It allows the processor speed to be increased or slowed down as needed, predicts the user’s sunrise and sunset times for more efficient charging, and improves photo taking with automatic subject detection for the camera. The Zenfone 5z also offers stereo speakers and boasts that they’re “as good as the iPhone X”.
In terms of innovative features, the artificial intelligence of the Asus smartphone makes it possible to adjust the ringtone volume according to the user’s environment. Either to make sure he can hear even when there is noise around, or vice versa, to use common sense when the baby is sleeping nearby. Zenfone 5z also uses Animoji, Face Unlock system and fingerprint sensor. In small details, the Asus smartphone is much more innovative than its Korean rival.
A significant price difference
The Galaxy S9 will be available from March 16, 2018, but pre-orders are available now. The Zenfone 5z will be available starting June 2018, a few months after its rival. But if the Samsung flagship costs 859 euros (or even 959 euros in the S9 Plus version), the high-end smartphone from Asus is much cheaper!
Indeed, the most affordable model is offered at 479 euros, which makes a huge difference and can quite easily justify choosing it and waiting. Because whether it’s for power or innovation, the Zenfone 5z totally crushes the Galaxy S9. Actually Asus Zenfone 5z is the best smartphone of MWC 2018!
