How to Remove Invisible Filter from TikTok

For some time now, the invisible filter seems to be the most important thing on TikTok. It makes your likeness transparent and it’s not uncommon to come across invisible profile pictures and full body pictures.

Interestingly, this filter has a really cool trigger. When you want to be invisible, put your palms on the screen and puff and you’re gone. Raise your palm again and reappear to restore your likeness.

This article focuses on removing the given filter, but also provides more information about filters and their availability.

Can You Really Remove the Filter?

The quick answer is no, you can’t. First of all, the invisible filter is technically an effect, not a filter. Therefore, it lives in the TikTok Cloud and is available as an option that is downloaded/activated when you tap on it.

The filter should be under the Popular tab and is only available when you select it. The filter icon is a blue invisible avatar that looks like it’s dancing.

Anyway, if your feet get cold at the last moment, simply deselect the filter to remove it. But sometimes things are not that easy and the “filter” may not show up at all under the effects.

To illustrate, some people used the power of invisibility to flash unsuspecting TikTokers, believing it to be a witty way to override community rules. However, the social network immediately noticed the attack and removed the filter from the series.

This removal should be temporary and you can wait for the filter/effect to occur when the desire to flash other users diminishes.

How about removing the filter from existing videos?

Unfortunately, the answer is again no.

There are loads of tutorials using third-party apps. Or they access TikTok via a browser, then try to hack the review items terminal to reveal the original clip. While none of this will work, it’s best not to waste your time. But why is this so?

Some social media platforms use a format that keeps both the original video and the filter layer at the top. In this case, it is possible to cycle through the filter and see only the original clip. However, TikTok is different.

When a video is broadcast, the clip, filters, and effects get mixed up. This means that all layers are combined and there is no way to extract individual elements. In other words, TikTok records everything as a new single-layer video.

However, the only way to remove the invisible filter is from Drafts. So you can change your mind before posing. But once the video is out in the digital world, all you can do is remove the entire clip.

Getting Rid of Surplus Filters

TikTok offers great filter management options and allows you to remove unwanted filters for easier navigation. This step-by-step guide works great for any filter, but you actually hide the function instead of removing it from the app.

Regardless, it’s a good way to keep only your favorite filters close at hand, without having to scroll through the long menu.

To emphasize once again, this applies to TikTok filters; not effects that invisibility should belong to.

Stage 1

Launch TikTok and tap the plus icon to access the camera view. Next, tap the filters icon on the left side of the screen.

Scroll the carousel over the filter label and select Administration to preview all available filters.

step 2

The following window lets you choose the filter category and name. Like VSCO, TikTok uses letter and number combinations to name filters and has a quick preview thumbnail.

Additionally, you get a live preview of the filter when you tap on it. And this type of setup makes the selection much easier.

Stage 3

Once you find the filters you don’t need, tap the checkmark next to the label and it will disappear from the default list.

Things to know

As I said, you don’t completely remove filters from your profile, but you hide them. If you want to reinstate any of the filters you removed, return to the Administration menu and tap the empty circle.

Like videos with invisible filters, videos you upload with regular filters cannot be edited after uploading. But if you save it as a draft, you can make some last-minute changes.

Whatever you do, remember that TikTok uploads all your creations to a single layer that cannot be changed afterwards. And when you think about it, this is probably a security feature to prevent potential abuse.

Now You See Me, Now You Don’t

It is a pity that the invisible filter, or rather the effect, was removed due to flashing users. At this point, it remains only to hope that he will come back soon.
