For many, posting something online has become the daily norm. Be it a witty tweet or a deeply thought-out caption under an Instagram photo. Even if you’re not an influencer and social media isn’t your livelihood, you’re undoubtedly posting something every now and then.
But over time, posts are added. And you may find yourself thinking it’s time to overhaul your Instagram account. This may include unfollowing accounts you no longer like, but it can also mean deleting many posts you no longer identify with. So how do you delete multiple Instagram posts?
One By One Just Won’t Do
Picture hundreds of photos of yourself and your ex happy and carefree on your Instagram grid after the breakup. Once precious memories, now painful to remember, memories you want to get rid of. Do you have to select each photo you want to delete and do it individually? According to Instagram, yes. And the web version doesn’t even let you do that! Sure, it lets you change your followers and the lists below, but that’s where the freedom to change things ends.
This is a real inconvenience for anyone looking to get rid of multiple posts in one sitting. Whatever the reason, you want to finish it as quickly as possible. Your impressive career may be flourishing and now your Instagram page needs a specific look. But that can mean spending a lot of time and mental effort doing it. Fortunately, there are several ways to speed up the process.
Third Party Apps
Since Instagram doesn’t offer this feature, you may have to deal with third-party apps. While not always an ideal choice, they can generally help you. Most apps created for this purpose cover all the basics when it comes to cleaning up your Instagram. So you can use them to delete multiple posts, unfollow and block accounts and accept multiple followers.
It’s a particularly useful tool for those with Instagram pages that have a lot of traffic but don’t necessarily have to be celebrities who have staff managing their social media accounts. If you have an iPhone, the app to download is InstaClean.
For Android users, the options aren’t that great, but you might want to give Cleaner for Instagram a shot. This app lets you delete five photos at a time before asking you to pay for an upgrade. Both apps are free, but contain in-app purchases. This isn’t really a surprise, as most users are just used to getting teasers and making the most of them.
Hashtag Shortcut
There is another way to delete multiple Instagram posts faster. It takes some work, but overall it will save you time. Especially if you want to delete a lot of photos scattered all over your timeline. However, you will need a computer as this process requires using the web version of Instagram. This is what you should do:
- Login to your web Instagram account.
- Scroll down and search for all posts you plan to delete.
- Use the mouse cursor over the photo you want to delete and right click on it. Keep selecting the “Open link in a new tab” option.
- Now, consider a hashtag that no one uses, something like #delete followed by a string of random numbers. Add this hashtag to any posts you plan to delete.
- Now open Instagram app on your phone and go to hashtag search. Type the hashtag you created and you will see all the posts you have assigned with that hashtag.
- Click on each post and then select “Delete” from the menu.
- Repeat until all posts are deleted.
Of course, this can take some time and almost seem like it’s not worth the hassle. However, if you have a lot of posts that you want to remove and you don’t want to use third-party apps, this may be the best solution for you. That way, all the posts listed after the hashtag search are the posts you want them to go. The alternative is to review your Instagram timeline and accidentally delete some photos if you lose track of what you’re doing.
A Much Needed Feature
Instagram should increase and add the option to delete multiple posts. It is almost certain that the majority of users will be grateful for this. You never know when you might find yourself in a situation where you need to delete multiple posts. Why don’t you have this option?
However, for whatever reason, most social media platforms don’t really listen to their users and take a long time to make a change. Meanwhile, users are left looking for third-party solutions and different shortcuts.
