LeBron James has been arguably the Los Angeles Lakers’ best player this season, but his efforts haven’t necessarily worked out better for a team without a set routine. He has always been the type of player who adjusted his game to suit his personal shortcomings and team needs. James took the role of quarterback last year and played a few games in the center position as well. Overall, he’s a very smart player to rely on when gaming.
In their final game, against the Houston Rockets, which they lost, LeBron had the opportunity to take charge of the finisher, but passed it to Carmelo Anthony, whose shot missed the shot. Although a reliable facilitator, it has only been successful to some extent. The Lakers lost 139-130 to the Rockets in overtime. Bron hit a triple-double with 23 points, 14 rebounds and 12 assists on a very low shooting night, hitting 26/26.
Is LeBron James reliable on clutches?
In the middle of a career season for King, comparisons between him and Michael Jordan were constantly brought up. This season, LeBron has managed to break records at the age of 37 that many cannot even imagine. He was ranked third on the all-time scoring list and is currently a few points behind. Karl Malone who is second. LeBron averaged 29.3 points with 8.2 rebounds and 6.3 assists per game. He recently scored 56 points on the field, 6 of his 11 tries before the Rockets game, but only failed one out of 9 tries against Houston.
In terms of shooting, LeBron James couldn’t find a consistent shot compared to his ability to bully the defenders with the bow. LeBron has barely averaged 2 three-pointers per game with the LA Lakers in the past few seasons and the current off-season. He has collectively shot under 35% throughout his career, compared to Carmelo Anthony’s rate of 35.6%; this is no different from the fact that unlike LeBron, he is known for his consistent shooting ability.
Skip Bayless blasts LeBron James for not closing against Houston
“I believe it doesn’t have the clutch gene, but I’ll be more specific, it doesn’t have the closer gene. More specifically, the clutch doesn’t have the late game free throw gene.” In Undisputed, Skip Bayless took aim at LeBron’s weak shooting ability.
