Why You Shouldn’t Buy a 128GB iPhone 6s

The iPhone 6s will be out later this week, but here’s why you shouldn’t buy the 128GB iPhone 6s.

The iPhone 6s was announced earlier this month at its annual fall event, where Apple is expected to launch such a device, but they also announced the iPad Pro and the new Apple TV.

Of course, the iPhone 6s was the main event, and Apple’s latest flagship smartphone will garner a lot of attention when it finally launches this week.

The new device comes with a faster processor, an improved camera and a new 3D Touch screen. This allows users to hard-press the screen to bring up alternative options and shortcuts to apps that support the feature, and of course simply tap something to select or open it.

As for the camera, the iPhone 6s now uses a 12-megapixel camera instead of the 8-megapixel camera on the iPhone 6. Also, the new device can now record 4K videos.

In any case, if you’re considering upgrading to the iPhone 6s and aren’t quite sure what storage size to get, you shouldn’t at least buy the 128GB iPhone 6s, and here’s why.

Too Much Storage

While the 16GB iPhone 6s isn’t enough storage, the 128GB iPhone 6s is too much storage for most users.

With the addition of 4K video and the ability to create “Live Photos” on your iPhone 6s, 16GB of storage won’t be enough for even the most casual user. However, 128GB of storage will likely be too much.

Of course, it doesn’t hurt to have a lot of storage just in case you need it, especially when you go on vacation and expect to record a lot of 4K video. I usually have the same mindset, but photos and videos never take up as much space as I thought.

If you think you’re going to need a 128GB iPhone 6s, that’s great, but if you don’t know for sure when you’re going to fill it up, you’ll probably never come close to stuffing it as many users will put all their music in. and pretty much everything they have is on their iPhone.

Realistically though, the 64GB iPhone 6s is probably the best storage size for most users.

Very expensive

Of course, the biggest reason users have trouble deciding on storage size is price. The more storage you want, the more you pay for it.

The 128GB iPhone 6s retails for $849, while the iPhone 6s Plus version retails for $949. Some users are not afraid to spend that kind of money, but most casual users probably don’t need it.

Frankly, the only real downside to the 128GB iPhone 6s is the price, so you probably don’t need the larger storage capacity anyway.

In fact, even if 16GB isn’t the best storage size for most users, most users continue to buy the 16GB version of the iPhone or iPad just to get the lowest possible price. Rather, the 16GB iPhone is Apple’s secret money maker, forcing users to almost upgrade to the 64GB iPhone and pay another $100 for it.

However, it’s a better deal than before, as paying $100 more will only get you up to 32GB on older iPhone models, but Apple recently switched to a 16GB/64GB/128GB/storage-tiered system, meaning it’s actually 64GB. The GB is a really good deal, even if Apple is kind of tricking you into getting it after all.

I wish the 32GB option was still available because I personally wouldn’t need 64GB and if I could save some money by going with a 32GB model I would definitely prefer that, but only upgrade to a 64GB iPhone. $100 more isn’t a terrible deal, and it’s definitely a better deal than it was a few years ago.
