Most iPhone cases these days do more than one thing. Rokform Predator Case for iPhone 6s Plus protects iPhone and includes a magnetic mount with possibly the strongest magnet of any magnetic phone mount we’ve ever seen. But how does it work as an iPhone case?

Since Apple hasn’t changed the size of the iPhone enough to make it work, the case fits the previous generation iPhone 6 and 6 Plus. Rokform sells them in three colors, silver, gray and black.
The case has an X shape on the back and holds the corners of the iPhone 6 Plus. There is a magnet in the middle of the X on the back of the Rokform Predator Case. Felt lines inside the metal case prevent the phone from being scratched. However, the instructions warn the user to install the case carefully, as it may scratch the phone. It’s kind of annoying but I’ve put the case on and off a few times and it hasn’t scratched my phone at all.
To attach the Rokform Predator Case to the phone, users need to unscrew the two small hexagonal screws on the back of the case. They’re really small, so do this on a tablet or desk that you won’t easily lose. I lost one because I tried to do it with or without a table.
You will need to press hard to bring the two parts of the case together enough to insert the screws. The case comes with a small screwdriver that fits special screws. If you do not have a hex screwdriver, you can use the supplied screwdriver. It’s small and awkward to get a good grip on, so I used a larger screwdriver from my tool collection.

The magnetic mount is fixed to a surface with adhesive. Pull off the adhesive cover and apply to a flat surface. Prepare the surface using the supplied alcohol wipe. The Rokform Predator Case magnetic disc mount adheres quickly, but apply at the end of the day and wait until morning before using to make sure it adheres properly.
Some people do not like to apply adhesive fasteners to car dashboards. use Goo Gone ($5-6 on Amazon), the adhesive usually comes off fairly easily. I’m not worried about this anymore, but if that is a concern, look for another mounting solution.
The magnets in Rokform Predator Case for iPhone 6s Plus hold the case with strong magnetic attraction that won’t dissolve easily. The cover fell into place and never fell off. The case protects well and stays in place when mounted in a car on a bumpy road, but I can’t recommend the case for several reasons. I often find the need to remove my case. You cannot remove the Rokform Predator Case without a hex screwdriver. It’s small and easily lost with the case. Actually I can’t find it. People don’t usually carry hex screwdrivers.
Second, the cost of the case is more expensive than most people would put on their phones using one of the financing plans offered with major carriers. $120 for a case seems too high for most.
Third, other solutions work as well, but cost much less. For example, one of my favorite tool mounts is the Kenu Airframe+, which holds the sides of the phone. buy one Amazon only $30 or $40 for a leather-wrapped version.
