iPhone 14: Apple will reserve 120 Hz LTPO display for more expensive smartphones

With the iPhone 14 series, Apple will highlight the elements that make it possible to distinguish the high-end Pro versions from the standard models. According to the latest rumors, it seems that only the iPhone 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max will qualify for a new chipset. SoC A16 Bionic. The more affordable models, the iPhone 14 and 14 Max, should be content with an A15 chip like the iPhone 13.

The same strategy was apparently reserved for screens. According to information quoted by Shadow_Leak, an influential Twitter whistleblower, it seems thatApple reserves LTPO display for Pro versions. LTPO technology (low temperature polycrystalline oxide thin film transistor), currently used in several high-end smartphones, makes it possible to dynamically and intelligently adapt the frequency in the panel to limit energy consumption.

More affordable iPhone 14s don’t have a 120Hz display

De facto, only the iPhone 14 Pro can benefit from a screen that: 120Hz refresh rate. More affordable models would be limited to 60 Hz. It’s a shame when you consider that most high-end Android phones now have a 120Hz panel. This is especially true for all models in Samsung’s Galaxy S22 series.

For the record, the Californian brand has already done this with the iPhone 13. Only the iPhone 13 Pro / iPhone 13 Pro Max took over the 120 Hz LTPO display. For themselves, they ended up with the iPhone 13 and 13 mini A screen limited to 60 Hz. But in recent months, there have been several rumors that the 120 Hz display will be offered on all iPhone 14 models.

The informant also mentions the amount of RAM integrated in each version to support the chipset. Reflecting several rumors, the whistleblower assures that all iPhone 14s will inherit 6GB of RAM. It looks like Apple has no plans to add 8GB of RAM to the Pro versions. We’ll tell you more about the iPhone 14 as soon as possible.
