While Apple has already replaced the “silent” switch with a new action button on the last iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max models, the next iPhone 16 should also have a brand new button, this time dedicated to photography.
Indeed, in a new report published in Bloomberg, famous journalist Mark Gurman underlined that all future iPhone 16s will have a new button. Specially designed for video recording.
What do we know about the iPhone 16 video button?
The capture button is expected to revolutionize the user experience by offering a dedicated interface for capturing video. Placed under the side button, Apple is expected to abandon the traditional mechanical button and take a capacitive approach. in the USA, The capture button will replace the mmWave antenna, which will be placed under the volume buttons on iPhone models. On international models that do not have a MmWave antenna, the button will find its place without any changes.
The position of the capture button will respond to ergonomic considerations as it is placed right side up. where the user’s index finger naturally emerges when recording video in landscape mode.
The capacitive structure of the button paves the way for different functions to be provided on the same button. For example, a light press can make it easier to adjust focus, a moderate press can act as a shutter release, and a long press can launch the Camera app.
Mark Gurman remembers this clearlyThis new button will not be reserved for Pro modelsDesign changes are often introduced into “Pro” models before being expanded to standard models. In this case, the standard and “Pro” models of the iPhone 16 are expected to receive the action button and the capture button at the same time next year, which may be quite confusing for many users. We’ll be sure to explain in more detail how the new button works as we learn more.
