The iPhone maker plans to leverage advanced machine learning to make recording meetings, lectures, interviews and more more efficient, according to AppleInsider sources familiar with Apple’s plans. At the center of this initiative A revamped Voice Memos app that will provide real-time transcription of audio recordings.
As you record, the app will display a text transcription as well as the traditional visualization of the audio waveform. This feature will be extremely useful for quickly reviewing and referencing important details of a meeting, lecture, or other recordings. without having to manually transcribe or re-listen to the entire audio.
For students, these features can make recording lectures and discussions exponentially more valuable by providing instant verbatim transcriptions and content summaries for later reference. Professionals finally no longer need dedicated transcription services for meetings, seminars, and interviews by using apps built into their iPhones.
Writers, journalists, and creatives can use Notes’ AI-powered audio recording mode to quickly capture ideas, interviews, or research findings with the ability to automatically summarize recordings. Besides Notes and Voice Memos, sources state: Auto-summary feature will be expanded to other key Apple apps and services in iOS 18.
