4 Reasons to Wait for iOS 9 Jailbreak

iOS 9 was released earlier this week after spending a few months in beta, but for those on jailbroken devices, there are four reasons to wait for the iOS 9 jailbreak before updating to iOS 9.

The new version comes with the same overall look and feel as iOS 8, but with only a few minor changes to the UI. For example, the iPad version has a new app switcher with a new look and an easier way to switch between apps by swiping from the right side of the screen.

iOS 9 also includes some general performance improvements and improvements to various services such as Siri and Spotlight Search. Overall, it’s a good update from iOS 8, but there’s nothing earth-shattering about the new features – certainly nothing like an upgrade from iOS 6 to iOS 7.

Users jailbroken in iOS 8 may be considering upgrading to iOS 9 and losing their jailbreak to use new features in iOS 9, but there are four big reasons why you should wait until an iOS 9 jailbreak is released before updating to iOS 9.

No iOS 9 Jailbreak

For starters, there is currently no iOS 9 jailbreak and probably won’t be for a while.

This means that if you update to iOS 9 you will lose all your jailbreak settings. This might not be a big deal if you don’t have that many tweaks installed, but if you rely on a lot of jailbreak settings on your iPhone or iPad, it’s probably not worth losing them all just to update to iOS 9.

However, that will change when an iOS 9 jailbreak is released. Jailbreakers will be able to update to iOS 9 without fear of losing jailbreak settings, and the question of whether you should update to iOS 9 and lose your current jailbreak would be irrelevant.

First iOS 9 Issues

As with any newly released update it is inevitable that users will have some issues, perhaps the biggest being the updates that fail when users try to install iOS 9.

And of course, there are other minor issues like low battery life, WiFi issues, and other minor issues that can usually be fixed with some minor troubleshooting.

That said, any major update from Apple usually has a few hiccups along the way, which you usually encounter when moving from one version of iOS to another. For some users, this is an easy transition, but if you update to iOS 9 and encounter some bugs, you’re going to have a bad time while you can stay jailbroken in iOS 8.

Few Big New Features

Usually every new major release of iOS has a ton of new features that make it worth upgrading, but iOS 9 can be pretty lackluster for some users.

The only big difference is the new app switcher, new News app, improvements to Notes (even if you’re using it), and you can now swipe left for Spotlight Search. There are other improvements, like a better Siri experience and smarter Spotlight Search results, but you’ll have to ask yourself if these features are worth losing your jailbreak for.

If you’re still happy with your iOS 8.4 jailbreak, it’s probably best to stick with it until an iOS 9 jailbreak is released.

Get iOS 9 Features in iOS 8 Jailbreak

Even if you decide not to update to iOS 9, you may still receive some iOS 9 features on your iOS 8.4 jailbroken device.

Jailbreak tweak developers are working to bring iOS 9 features to iOS 8 and this is one of the biggest requests jailbreak users make. in the jailbreak subdirectoryso we should see some iOS 9 features coming to jailbroken devices soon.

Tweaks like this might stall us until an iOS 9 jailbreak is released, which may not be for a few more months, but it’s really live at this point. TaiG or Pangu haven’t released any information about iOS 9, but they’re definitely working on it right now.
