WhatsApp allows you to delete messages a few hours after sending them. Whether accidentally sent messages or not, you can delete them both from your conversation history and from your interlocutor’s history.
What’s up? continues to evolve over the years. While it was not possible to delete previously sent messages initially, the functionality appeared in 2017. At first, the app only allowed 7 minutes to delete a sent message. Subsequently, the time limit was increased to one hour.
Since August 2022, Meta has announced multiple changes to their privacy policy. Withdrawal time is now two days. So you have 48 hours to “delete a message for everyone” and that’s for sure. If you don’t know how to do it, it’s very simple.
WhatsApp: you can delete messages for two days
You would understand that. For the method described below to work, the relevant message(s) must be deleted less than 48 hours after they are sent.
- Open the conversation that contains the message you want to delete.
- Long press the message. You can also select several messages after the first long press.
- press on delete icon on the hill. It comes in the form of a basket. then press delete for all.
Deleted messages are permanently lost from the conversation history of your interlocutor and yours. If you are using WhatsApp for Android, deleted photos will also disappear from Gallery. However, recipients using WhatsApp for iOS can still see your media in the Photos app.
How to delete messages just for you?
You can also delete messages just for yourself. So the recipient can still see them in their WhatsApp history, but not you. To do this :
- Open the conversation that contains the message you want to delete.
- Long press the message. You can also select multiple messages.
- press on delete icon shaped like a trash can at the top. then press delete for me.
Unlike the “delete all” option, there is no time limit that will delete messages just for you. You can delete messages at any time, even after a few years.
