If you have a Gmail email account and an iPhone, here’s how to sync your iPhone notes with your Gmail account and access them from any computer when you’re signed in to your Gmail account.
Gmail is one of the most popular email services around, and the iPhone is one of the most popular smartphones on the market. Together, they can create the ultimate combination. If you use the Notes app on your iPhone religiously and wish to access them from your Gmail account, you’re in luck.
There are a few steps you need to take to get this done, but it’s pretty easy and you’ve probably already done most of the hard work if you have a Gmail account connected to your iPhone.
Here’s how to sync your iPhone notes with your Gmail account to access from any computer, Mac or Windows machine.
Setting Up Gmail on iPhone
The first thing you need to do in this process is to add your Gmail account to your iPhone. You may already be ready to use it, but if not, follow these simple steps:
First open the app and then scroll down and tap on it. To the top, tap on it.
You will see a list of available options, including Google (Gmail), Yahoo, AOL, and Outlook. Choose obviously.
On the next page, you will type your name, email address and password for your Gmail account. When you’re done, tap on the top right corner and iOS will verify the information.
Once verified, on the next page you need to select the information you want synced, including your email, contacts, calendar, and notes. Change any of these you want, but make sure to select it from the list to ensure your iPhone notes will be synced. From there, tap on it in the upper right corner.
From here, you can open the Mail app and see all your emails just like you see them in Gmail. Installation is really simple.
The nice thing about this method is that the Mail app is fully integrated into iOS, so it works well with other apps you go back and forth. However, it does not have features like the Gmail app, such as labels and starred email. However, this is where the second method comes into play.
In any case, I’m getting off topic because the point here is to sync your iPhone notes with Gmail.
Syncing Notes
Again, for iPhone notes to sync with your Gmail account, you will have to make a selection in that final window and once you do that, a folder will appear in the Notes app so any new notes you create in that folder appear in your Gmail account. A label will appear in your Gmail sidebar where you can view your iPhone notes directly in the web browser.
Unfortunately, this is a one-way sync, meaning any notes you create on your iPhone will appear in your Gmail account, but you cannot edit them in Gmail. You can only edit them on your iPhone or other iOS device that you sync with your iCloud account.
This is definitely not an alternative to iCloud syncing, but it can really help if you use Gmail a lot because you can easily access your iPhone notes directly from your Gmail account.
