How to Split Bills in Google Pay

At the Google 2021 event for India last month, Google announced plans to bring bill splitting to its UPI payment app Google Pay. The company has now started offering this nifty feature and you can use it to effortlessly split bills among your friends. Here’s everything you need to know about how to use Google Pay’s bill splitting feature.

First, Create a New Google Pay Group

1. Open Google Pay and tap the “New payment” button at the bottom of the screen. from the next page, Tap “New group” To create a new group in Google Pay.

2. You will see the option to add contacts to your Google Pay group. You can use the search box or select contacts from the “Recent contacts” or “Google Pay contacts” suggestion list. Select the contacts and tap “Next” in the upper right corner to proceed further.

3. Now you have to give the group a name and Press the “Create” button to open.

How Are Charges Divided in Google Pay?

1. Now that you have created a Google Pay group, you can start sharing invoices with your friends. To start, Press the “split an expense” buttonEnter the total amount you plan to split and tap “Next”.

2. Now you will see option to split between members Your group. There are options to split it evenly or enter a special amount that someone has to pay. If someone in the group doesn’t owe you money, you can deselect them and split the total amount among the others. You can also optionally add a description to quickly identify the expense later. When done, tap the “ icon.Send request“to raise the demand for payment.

3. You can view the spending request from the group’s conversation window and check if your friends have paid the amount.

4. If you change your mind, tap the vertical three-dot menu icon in the upper-right corner, then tap “close requestTo cancel the payment request you just made in the Google Pay app.

How to Delete Google Pay Group

1. Open the Google Pay chat group and tap the banner to access the settings page. Here you can manually remove members by tapping the ‘minus’ button next to their username. Select “Remove from group” from the confirmation popup.

2. You can leave the group after removing all members. To do this, “leave group” and confirm your decision at the prompt that now appears.
