Now that the Samsung Galaxy S6 is more than a few years old it is starting to show signs of aging. If your Galaxy S6 is frozen, unresponsive or acting funny, you cannot remove the battery like older models. It is no longer removable. But this quick guide will show you how to restart or reset a frozen Galaxy S6.
This doesn’t happen very often, but if you’re having trouble and your phone freezes, you won’t know what to do. Fortunately, you can press and hold a few buttons in a certain combination to quickly reset the phone and get it working again in under a minute. Here’s how.
When you use the phone for the first time, you will get a few notifications after setting up the device and then a small “Help, Advice and Tips” will pop up where you have to tap OK to uninstall it. This tip tells you how to completely restart your phone if it is frozen. Reader:
Instructions
As a reminder, it’s on your phone.
- Press and keys at the same time
- Press and hold both buttons for or until the phone vibrates and restarts
- If the phone turns off, release it and press power again for 1-2 seconds to reboot the phone.
Just as mentioned above, all you have to do is press and hold the power button and volume down key on the middle right part of your Galaxy S6. Hold for seven seconds at the same time. If your device is frozen, it will probably reboot as you expect and you will be back to using your device in seconds as if nothing had happened. However, it can also reboot into a maintenance boot mode as shown above.
From here you can reboot your device normally or do a factory data reset (this will wipe everything), so be careful. Booting in safe mode disables 3rd party apps if one of them is causing the problem. Other options include shutdown or boot into debug mode for developers. Skip all this and restart your phone.
You can control this menu with the volume up/down keys and press the dedicated home button or power button to select an option. Be careful not to factory reset and restart your device. That is all.
