Among all the new Android 12 features, a useful privacy-friendly addition should be the ability to seamlessly disable the camera and microphone. As of Android 12, you don’t need to turn off all sensors on your Android phone to restrict camera or microphone access. Instead, you can use the dedicated camera and microphone toggles in the Quick Settings panel to block access to the sensors. Google added the ability to disable camera or microphone access with a single tap with Android 12. While you can have many Android 12 features on any Android phone, you will need an Android 12 phone to use this feature. Other than that, here are the steps you need to follow to get custom quick setting tiles to disable camera or microphone instantly.

  1. First, pull down the notification shade to access the Quick Settings panel. When fully expanded, Tap the pencil icon to rearrange the QS tiles.

2. Tap to hold and Drag the “Camera access” and “Microphone access” quick setting tiles To the active tiles area in Android 12.

3. Now, Press the back arrow in the upper left corner of the screen. You can also use the back swipe gesture to save changes and exit.

4. And here you are. You will now see the new Camera and Microphone access tiles on the Quick settings page. You can do Tap tiles to enable or disable camera and microphone access on Android 12respectively.

note: As you can see above, both the “Camera access” and “Microphone access” tiles are marked as “Available” when unblocked in Android 12. When tapped, it will be marked as “Blocked” and you cannot use it. either until you enable them again.

5. Then when you open an app that requires these permissions, you will see a prompt asking if you want to unblock your camera or microphone. Note that this will unblock access for all apps. If you choose to block it again, you will have to manually disable the permissions from the quick settings header.
