WhatsApp is busy improving security on its app. The Facebook-owned company enabled end-to-end encryption in the app last year and has now introduced two-step verification. WhatsApp introduces two-step verification in its iPhone, Android and Windows app. The new security feature will ensure that no one can set up your WhatsApp account with just your mobile number. We strongly recommend that you set it up on your WhatsApp account and let us assist you. Here are the steps to enable two-step verification on WhatsApp:
1. Open WhatsApp Messenger on your iPhone, Android smartphone or Windows smartphone. Then the head WhatsApp Settings->Account->Two-step verification.
2. Here, tap on “.enable” and then 6 digit passwordWhen reinstalling WhatsApp you will be asked to enter the . Tap “Next” and confirm the password again.
3. Once done, you can: enter recovery email address, where you can get a link to reset the password in case you forget it. You can choose to skip this step, but it is still highly recommended if you do not want your own WhatsApp account to be locked.
4. After confirming the email address, WhatsApp two-step verification will be enabled. On the two-step verification page, you will now find options to disable two-step verification and change the password and email address.
When two-step verification is enabled, you will need to enter the password you set when registering your phone number with WhatsApp again.
Points to Consider in WhatsApp Two-Step Verification:
- If you don’t remember your password and haven’t entered an email address, you can: Re-verify your WhatsApp account without password after that 7 days. However, you will lose all your pending messages.
- You cannot re-verify your WhatsApp account without a password until 7 days have passed.
- WhatsApp regularly prompts you to enter the password, to not forget. This can only be disabled by disabling two-step verification.
- If your WhatsApp account is registered and verified without a password after using WhatsApp for the last 30 days, your account will be deleted and a new one will be created.
